The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) is n annual scholarship program by the Canadian government to international students applying to pursue graduate research programs in the country. The scholarship offers a fully-funded award to selected students in a bid to see them complete their research programs seamlessly in the country.
The goal of the Canadian government is to attract brilliant minds from around the world to pursue various research programs in the country. Each selected applicants would be given $50,000 per year. Applicants must be applying to pursue doctoral research programs to be considered for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program.

Host University/ Country – Vanier CGS accredited Universities across Canada. Applicants are encouraged to check if their choice institution is nominated for the Canadian government scholarship before sending their application
Academic level – Doctoral programs or a combination of MA/PhD or MD/PhD
Discipline – The scholarship is available to doctoral students applying to research in any of the following fields – health, natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences and/or humanities
Scholarship Award – $50,000
Number of scholarships – 116 scholarships

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must first accept an offer into a doctoral research program at any Vanier CGS accredited university
- Applicants must be nominated by their chosen institution
- Must have completed their master’s degree before May 21, 2021
